Corruption remains one of the most pervasive challenges faced by nations worldwide, and Malaysia is no exception. Despite ongoing reforms and robust enforcement measures, corruption continues to undermine trust in institutions, hinder economic growth, and erode societal values. Achieving a corruption-free nation requires a collective and sustained effort, not just from the government and enforcement agencies but from all segments of society. This Focus Group Discussion (FGD) explores the critical role of civil society comprising citizens, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and the media in addressing this persistent issue.
The Round Table Discussion (RTD) was held at Al-Tabari Conference Room, Human Sciences Building, International Islamic University Malaysia on 25th February, 9:30am.
Starting with the panel discussion, ACCIN CEO Hj Ir Mohammad Jamaludin Shamsudin was one of the 3 panelists comprised of citizens, NGOs, media, and experts discuss key issues and initiatives, such as:
– How citizens can promote transparency.
– NGOs’ role in anti-corruption education.
– The media’s responsibility in investigative journalism.
This was followed by the Roundtable Discussions which focused on these discussion topics:
– Tools and resources needed to empower citizens.
– How NGOs can collaborate effectively with government.
– Media’s role in raising corruption awareness.
The RTD was closed with a summary of the discussion and highlight og key takeaways, the rapporteur formally presents the resolution and proposed action points, and a networking session to foster further collaboration.
