Inviting a Palestinian Christian Pastor, Dr Alex Awad who is here in Malaysia during that period to conduct a series of talks and forums in churches, mosques, universities and think tanks to educate, inform the people via a first-hand eye witness account of the oppression and atrocities of the Israeli Regime against the Palestinian people as well as to correct misconceptions about the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict.
Pastor Dr Alex Awad was born in Palestine in 1946 and served there for decades as a missionary of the General Board of Global Ministries of The United Methodist Church. Alex was the pastor of the East Jerusalem Baptist Church and served as Professor, Dean of Students and Director of the Shepherd Society at Bethlehem Bible College. Alex’s formative 1 years were marked by the death of his father, who was killed in 1948 in the crossfire between the Israeli and Jordanian armies. After the remaining family became refugees, his mother worked as a nurse to single-handedly raised seven children between the ages of six months and 11 years.
Pastor Dr Alex Awad is accompanied by a Palestinian Muslim Imam, Sheikh Maher Assaf, a refugee displaced from the village of Allar (located southwest of the Old City of Jerusalem) and is an intellectual, a scholar and a community leader. He is currently serving as a school teacher living in Bethlehem.
Both Pastor Dr Alex Awad and Imam Sheikh Maher Assaf will deliver powerful messages about the Palestinian cause and also reflect the combined Muslim-Christian stand and support by ACCIN & ANCOM for the Palestinian cause.
